Assembly & Care

Our Montessori-inspired furniture is designed for simple, safe setup at home. Follow the steps below to assemble correctly and keep your pieces looking their best.

Before You Start

  • Open all boxes and lay out parts on a soft surface to avoid scratches.
  • Compare parts with the included instruction sheet to confirm quantities.
  • Work on a flat, clean floor with good lighting. Keep hardware within reach.
  • For children’s safety, keep small parts and tools out of reach during assembly.

Tools

Included

  • Allen key or driver (if applicable)
  • Hardware pack labeled by step

You May Also Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Soft mallet for gentle dowel seating
  • Measuring tape and level
  • Wall anchors and drill for anti-tip installation where required

Assembly Overview

  1. Identify left/right or front/back panels by pre-drilled holes and labels.
  2. Dry-fit dowels and hardware before tightening to ensure alignment.
  3. Tighten screws gradually in a cross pattern so the structure squares up evenly.
  4. Install caps or stickers after final checks to keep hardware protected.
  5. For tall units, install the supplied anti-tip kit according to instructions.

Final Safety Checklist

  • All screws and bolts tightened; no wobble when gently rocked.
  • Unit sits level on the floor; use felt pads if needed to compensate for minor floor unevenness.
  • Anti-tip kit installed for bookcases and taller storage if the product includes or recommends one.
  • No sharp edges or protruding hardware; caps installed where provided.

Use Tips

  • Place furniture on a stable, level surface away from stairs, heaters, windows, and cords.
  • Learning towers require active adult supervision. Set to the correct platform height for the child and keep the tower flush with the counter.
  • Store heavier items on lower shelves to improve stability.

Care & Cleaning

  • Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth; dry immediately.
  • For sticky spots, use mild soap diluted in water; avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasives.
  • Avoid prolonged moisture, direct sunlight, and high heat sources.
  • If a spill occurs, clean and dry promptly to prevent staining or warping.

Maintenance Schedule

  • Monthly: check and retighten screws and bolts, especially on frequently used items.
  • Seasonal: inspect for wood movement due to humidity changes; keep indoor humidity roughly 40–60 percent where possible.
  • As needed: replace worn felt pads or caps to protect floors and hardware.

Finish Care

Surfaces use water-based, child-safe finishes. Minor scuffs can often be blended with a gentle rub using a soft cloth. Avoid oils, waxes, or solvent-based cleaners not specified for water-based finishes.

Moving or Repositioning

  • Remove contents before moving tall units.
  • Lift from the base with two adults; do not drag across the floor.
  • Recheck level and hardware tightness after repositioning.

Troubleshooting

  • Misaligned holes: loosen all fasteners slightly, square the frame, then retighten in sequence.
  • Wobble: verify floor is level, add felt pads, and retighten hardware.
  • Squeak: check for over-tightening or parts rubbing without a washer; adjust tension.
  • Missing or damaged parts: request replacements via the Contact page.
